Confirmation (with Baptism)

Confirmation is for those people who have been baptised as children.  Confirmation with Baptism is for adults who have neither been baptised or confirmed and is otherwise called "adult baptism". In confirmation, the members confirm their new and mature sense of call to be disciples of Christ.  The church confirms its acknowledgment of the baptised members' new role in the church, and each party celebrates God's confirmation of gracious confidence in both church and member.

Confirmation involves preparation.  Preparation includes learning about the central teachings of the Christian faith.  It involves learning about appropriate expressions of the faith that we profess.  Preparation for Confirmation in the Uniting Church also involves learning how the Uniting Church gives particular expression to living out faith in God in and through Jesus Christ.

The particular program used in preparation for Confirmation is called "Making Disciples"

This course is based on a mentoring model where a person who has been a longtime Christian gets alongside the person seeking to be confirmed.  This program is both personal and flexible.

The Parkes Congregation will be holding a service for Confirmation on the 2nd of December 2001.  More details will be provided closer to the date.  The Forbes congregation is also actively seeking out people who desire confirmation.

A person can be confirmed at any age as he or she expresses a desire to confirm faith in Jesus.  Naturally preparation is tailored according to the individual who is seeking confirmation.
